Ed “The Camfather” Iskenderian (1921–2026) was one of the most influential figures in American automotive history and a founding force of hot rodding and high-performance engineering. Born in California to Armenian immigrant parents, Ed came of age in Los Angeles just as car culture was taking shape. Fascinated by machinery from an early age, he taught himself engine building and performance while still in high school.

During World War II, Ed served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as an aircraft mechanic and crew chief, gaining technical discipline that would define his career. After the war, he founded Iskenderian Racing Cams in 1946, revolutionizing motorsports with innovative camshaft designs that powered drag racing, land speed records, and early NASCAR. A pioneer in performance marketing and the first president of SEMA, Ed helped shape the modern aftermarket industry.

Humble, curious, and endlessly generous with his knowledge, Ed inspired generations of racers and builders. His legacy lives on wherever engines are pushed to their limits.
